The vampire lifestyle is based on the modern perception of vampires in popular fiction.
There's more to it than just blood drinking and gothic dress.
Some modern day vampires actually don't drink blood.
They are called Psychic Vampires and they feed from the energy that you give off.
Think of it like this:
If you go into a room with your friends and you're in a pissy mood they'll feel it and in turn their mood will shift.
You also may notice that you can tell when someone close to you is hiding something and that something's wrong.
It's no different, a simple exchange of energy unbeknown to the general population.
There are also what you call Sanguinarian Vampires, which are your blood drinkers.
Most vampires today whether Sanguinarian or Psychic only feed from consenting donars.
The donars, especially Sanguinarian donars, are screened regularly to stay healthy.
Don Henrie is one of the few vampires who practice both Psychic and Sanguinarian vampirism.
He is known as a Hybrid Vampire, also known in the vampire comunity as the Vampire Emperor.
In one episode of Mad Mad House Don demonstrates feeding from life energy on one of his participants in the reality show with the help of two other vampires, including his girlfriend.
He also takes blood from his girlfriend and drinks it from a glass.
Some were in an uproar over the demonstrations but as Don said people need to be able to be themselves despite ridicule and there is nothing wrong with vampirism.
We are not devil worshipers.
We are not a cult.
There are vampires who are dangerous but Don sees to it that he is not one of those few.
"We're not going to feed it to you on a baby spoon it's our knowlege to have. If you want to know then come and find out." He says in an interview when asked about vampiric secrets.
So do not look down upon them because they're different because in reality, Vampires are the most human-like monsters there are.
